Pan Pantoja

"The world is always hard on us creators."

Pan Pantoja, 39, wears many hats in the Reno-Tahoe artist community, and he has been integral for many of Reno's art institutions. He created Reno Art Works, as well as a key player in the formation of Reno art hubs like the Holland Project and Spoken Views Poetry Collective. But most of Reno's artists know Pantoja as the Executive Director of The Potentialist Workshop, a creative space for any and every medium of art. Founded in 2013, the Workshop features gallery space and an open multi-purpose room for musicians, actors, filmmakers and more.

The Potentialist Workshop shut down at the start of the pandemic. Pantoja and his staff were able to host two socially distanced art galleries once restrictions were lessened, only to be shut down again to the public in November 2020. All artist showcases will be displayed virtually via the Workshop's Facebook page until restrictions are lessened.

Pantoja featured one of his canvas paintings—with the help of Axiom, his four-year-old son—at their socially distanced Haunted Gallery on Nevada Day, the same day as Pantoja's 39th birthday.
